Anne Fitzpatrick is an artist/designer living in Boston, Massachusetts. Anne’s ethos towards life and art is defined by two oscillating expressions: “life is in the details” and “maximize the experience.”
With a sophisticated eye for visual eloquence, Anne explores the intersection (and the literal overlapping) of iconic, historic and cultural influences. This chromatic alchemy draws upon an oeuvre of carefully culled life experiences, which create her work. She is most inspired by a lifelong passion for international travel, iconic figures, design, cinematography, philanthropy and fine art. Anne was invited May/June 2017 as a Visiting Artist at the American Academy in Rome and is currently working on a new body of work as a result of this transformative time.
Anne's career was launched in the fast paced "Mad-Men"-esque world of advertising, print, paper and publishing in the 1980s. Avid work within design, fashion and media established Anne's natural ability to process and interpret many facets of the world with a fresh and informed lens.
This keen regard for the simultaneous expansion and compression of life’s moments is revealed in her most recent Fine Art photo montage series; 'Paris Couture,' 'Habana Cubana' and 'Vertigo.’
Anne is recognized for her contributions in the arts, fashion and conservation in Boston, New York, Los Angeles, Venice, Paris and Madrid. Philanthropy has always been an essential component of Anne's personal philosophy.
Her philanthropic work in Boston, New York, Los Angeles, Venice, Paris and Madrid include serving on the Board of the Boston and New York Chapters of Save Venice, Inc., serving as an Overseer at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum as well as a Friends of Contemporary Art Cornerstone Chair, the deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum, the Huntington Theatre Company, Harvard School of Public Health/Nutritional Roundtable and the MIT List Visual Arts Center/List Leaders. She also serves on the Council of the Theater Workshop of Nantucket, the National and Boston Committees for The Mount, Edith Warton’s Home in Lenox, Massachusetts, as a Patron at the Museum of Fine Arts and Fashion Council Member, and International Council Member of the Teatro Real in Madrid, Spain. Anne is also active with The Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston, The Rose Art Museum of Brandeis University and the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, D.C.
In addition, she has been involved with many not-for-profit organizations and has served on a variety of corporate and professional association boards and committees.
Performing arts, preservation and public art is an area she is passionate about and has continuously supported as it nurtures both one’s creativity and opens a conversation while providing a balance and respite in an urban environment.
She has had the opportunity to contribute personally with her time and resources, including the Anne H. Fitzpatrick Façade at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, and has found this work and experience extremely rewarding.
